Key Benefits
Smaller needleSmall suture needles are less traumatic to tissue than those normally used. Small needles are easy to manipulate with SutureAid AT. |
Tissue supportThe SutureAid AT gives you a flat area to support tissue against the penetration of the needle. This prevents the tissue from stretching (forming a “tent”) during penetration, and subsequent ‘tearing ’ of the tissue. |
Control in complex suturingBy securely capturing the needle, SutureAid helps you to manipulate the needle in difficult-to-reach or difficult-to-see situations. SutureAid AT allows the use of a smaller needle, which is easier to manoeuvre in narrow cavities. |
Reduce suture line bleedingA needle of a larger diameter than the thread leaves a hole in tissue that is only partially filled with suture material. Using a smaller needle makes the ratio of needle diameter and thread diameter approach 1:1. Research shows that this reduces bleeding through suture holes. |
Prevent needle damageNeedle holders and conventional forceps cause damage to needles, making them less sharp, and abrasive to tissue. The SutureAid AT has a soft rubber area to hold the needle, keeping the needle in good condition. This removes the need to draw the needle through the tissue by gripping the needle with eigher a needle holders or a forceps. |
Needle stick preventionThe SutureAid AT has a rubber pocket where the needle can be parked during handover from Surgeon to Nurse and back. With SutureAid, the needle tip is covered, and needle stick injury is prevented. |
