Product Development
SutureAid products have been designed by a practicing neurosurgeon with significant input from other surgeons. The opinion of end-users and key opinion leaders was sought to guide the direction of the design (see Pre-clinical and Clinical Testing). The suturing process was analyzed from all perspectives: tissue damage, needle damage, the efficiency and ergonomics of the surgical act of suturing, the preparations by the OR-nurses, suture needle disposal, counting of suture needles, needlestick injuries and purchasing considerations. SutureAid has produced an integrated concept as a 'system-solution' to many of the identified problems.
Product development was managed by experienced surgical tool designers, engineers and program managers. SutureAid has been designed in the Netherlands and tested in the USA, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. SutureAid forceps are made of titanium or German steel. State-of-the-art production technology has been carefully selected and tested to guarantee constant high quality of the products without compromise. SutureAid Neede Receptors are made by an international group of specialist companies using biocompatible materials that have been carefully selected and tested to provide the required performance during critical phases of surgery.
