SutureAid Suturing

Accomplished surgeons aim to minimise tissue damage when suturing.

They recognise the difficulty making a perfect placement for some sutures.

The SutureAid AT - the first forceps that help you with atraumatic suturing.

Modified Forceps and Disposable Needle Receptor

A specially designed forceps is needed for SutureAid suturing. Each forceps is equipped with a Needle Receptor, a designated soft place that can both support the tissue and provide a location where the needle is held firmly during suturing. The Needle Receptor is disposable and is to be used for only one surgery. Needle Receptors have been designed and tested for use with a suture needle at least 100 times without failure. The Needle Receptors are latex free, radiopaque and have a CE mark.

Suturing Technique

With SutureAid suturing, common suturing technique can be used with only minimal adaptation. The tissue can be effectively handled and supported with the soft tipped Needle Receptor. By providing counter-pressure as the suture needle perforates the tissue, SutureAid prevents stretching and tenting of the tissue, situations which are known to cause tissue damage. Just as the needle tip passes through the tissue, the needle is firmly stuck in the Needle Receptor. Pulling the needle through the tissue is simply done by rotating the forceps. The flexible, but firm grip on the needle allows the surgon to better follow the needle curvature. Manipulating the proximal end of the needle with the soft Needle Receptor, instead of forceps or needle holder, reduces needle damage and grarantees optimal needle quality throughout the anastomosis. The improved needle control with the SutureAid forceps is particularly helpful when suturing in deep and tight spots.
